Are you running a business and feel that your team or you yourself need development support? Are you looking for someone to help you achieve new goals, improve communication, increase sales, or build a stronger team? Choosing the right trainer or coach is a crucial decision that can significantly impact the future of your business. But how do you find that ideal partner amidst the multitude of offers?
In this article, I will advise you on what to pay particular attention to so that your investment in development yields the expected results. Let's consider together the key criteria for selecting a trainer or coach for your company.
1. Define Your Needs and Goals.
Before you start browsing offers, clearly define what your company needs. Is it about improving sales skills, enhancing team communication, developing leadership abilities in management, or perhaps you need individual coaching for key personnel? Clearly defined goals will make it easier for you to find a trainer or coach specializing in the relevant area.
In my work as a trainer, coach, manager, and consultant, I conduct live and online training sessions for groups of various sizes in Polish and English. My clients are most often corporations and smaller companies. I have extensive experience in areas such as leadership, customer service, sales, team building, and communication. If you find a trainer who interests you, remember that you can always request an initial meeting before choosing them, during which you can jointly define needs and goals.
2. Check Experience and Specialization.
Ensure that the potential trainer or coach has experience working with companies of a similar profile to yours and in the areas that interest you. Analyze their past projects and references from other clients. Pay attention to their specializations – do they align with your needs?
My over 20 years of managerial and specialist experience, as well as collaboration with leading companies and start-ups, allow me to offer real support in many business areas. I specialize in, among other things, broadly understood communication, which is confirmed by my teaching engagements in postgraduate studies at the University of Economics in Wrocław. Look for a trainer who has clear specializations, e.g., 2-3 main areas, as this indicates well-established knowledge in a given subject.
3. Verify Qualifications and Certifications.
A professional trainer or coach should possess the appropriate qualifications and certifications confirming their competence. Check which courses and training they have completed and what accreditations they hold. This demonstrates their commitment to continuous development and the use of proven working methods.
I hold numerous certifications, including a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring (Chartered Management Institute), as well as Kirkpatrick Four Levels® Evaluation and Harrison Assessment Coach & Debriefer certifications. My English philology background and sworn translator status further broaden my ability to collaborate with international companies.
4. Pay Attention to Work Style and Personality Fit.
Effective collaboration with a trainer or coach is based on trust and a good relationship. During initial consultations, pay attention to their communication style, how they conduct the conversation, and whether you feel you are on the same wavelength. It is important for the trainer or coach to be able to create a safe and inspiring atmosphere.
Clients value me for creating a safe atmosphere conducive to participants opening up during training and coaching sessions, and for inspiring their personal development. My experience working with diverse teams and individual clients allows me to flexibly adapt my work style to specific needs.
5. Ask About Work Methods and Tools.
Find out what work methods and tools the trainer or coach uses. Are they tailored to your needs and goals? Do they offer competency diagnostics, workshops, individual or team coaching?
In my work, I utilize, among other things, the Harrison Assessment behavioral competency diagnosis, which allows for a deep understanding of employees' strengths and areas for development. I conduct training sessions, workshops, and team and managerial coaching, offering a comprehensive approach to organizational development.
Summary.
Choosing the ideal trainer or coach for your company is an investment in its future. By following the above criteria and carefully analyzing offers, you increase your chances of finding a partner who will help you achieve your intended goals and take your business to the next level. Remember that the key is to match your unique needs and find someone who not only has the right competencies but also earns your trust and inspires you to action.
